If you do not wish to renew your license online, you may download a renewal application at and submit the renewal by mail.

To begin the online renewal, you will need:

  • Your current massage therapy license number as shown on your current license
  • Proof of at least $250,000 in malpractice insurance
    • Policy number
    • Policy limits per occurrence
    • Digital copy of Certificate of Insurance or Policy Declarations Page
  • Digital copy of proof of at least 8 hours of continuing education between October 1, 2021 and September 30, 2023
  • A method of credit card or debit card payment for the $65 renewal fee
    • Visa, Mastercard, Discover or debit cards accepted

Military Status

If all answers to the 3 questions below are Yes, you are not required to pay the renewal fee. Please stop your online renewal and contact the Board office at (605) 773-6193 or to get military status. You are required to complete a paper application. Online renewal requires full payment.

  1. Are you or your spouse an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States?
  2. Were you or your spouse the subject of a military transfer to South Dakota?
  3. Are you or your spouse on full-time active duty status stationed in South Dakota?

You may save your renewal at any point in the process and return to complete the renewal process at a later time. Your renewal application is not complete until you reach the final page.
